From a Farmer’s Village to Wipro’s Elite: Abhishek’s Journey from CIMAGE to a Global Tech Giant
In an inspiring session at CIMAGE College, Patna, alumnus Abhishek Kumar returned to share his transformative journey—from a small village near Khusrupur to a senior position at Wipro, working on Apple’s cloud technology.
Abhishek, a BCA student from the 2016-19 batch, has been working at Wipro for the past four years. During his tenure, he also pursued an M.Tech in IT, fully sponsored by Wipro, which he completed just four months ago. His story is not just one of academic success, but also of consistent discipline, upskilling, and the right guidance—elements that he credits largely to CIMAGE.
“Admission Alone Doesn’t Guarantee Success”
Abhishek's message to current students and new aspirants was clear: “Getting admitted is just the beginning.”
Reflecting on his time at CIMAGE, he recalled a rigorous schedule—six to seven classes a day, regular assignments, and strict attendance protocols. He stressed that these rules weren’t just formalities but essential parts of building a strong foundation.
“If you miss classes, you don’t just miss attendance—you miss knowledge,” he emphasized.
The Power of Add-On Courses at CIMAGE
Abhishek shared that the Patliputra University BCA curriculum, while foundational, lacked modern industry tools and technologies such as Python, Robotics, and Cloud Computing. Fortunately, CIMAGE filled that gap.
“At CIMAGE, we had Add-On Courses beyond the university syllabus—on trending technologies like Python, Cloud, Android App Development, and even Robotics. These made us industry-ready.”
He elaborated how such skills helped him ace interviews, especially when companies didn’t just assess basic academics but real-world technical know-how.
“Companies like Wipro and TCS expect more than just the syllabus. They look for cloud computing, Python, AI, and the ability to adapt to rapid tech changes.”
Learning Never Stops – Even After Getting a Job
Even after joining Wipro in January 2020, Abhishek’s learning journey didn't stop. He enrolled in an M.Tech program sponsored by Wipro, balancing work and study for four years. This, he says, is essential in today’s tech world.
“Our fathers and grandfathers may have studied once and worked for life. But today, if you stop learning, your career stops growing.”
Bridging the Basics: The Bridge Course Advantage
Abhishek strongly advocated for the Bridge Course at CIMAGE, now a mandatory part of the curriculum. It helps level the playing field for students from different backgrounds by strengthening their English, basic computer skills, communication, and soft skills.
“Many students come from rural or non-English-medium backgrounds. Bridge Courses help them transition smoothly and confidently into professional education.”
Discipline & Culture of Learning
Abhishek recalled the unique culture at CIMAGE:
- Mandatory classes
- Practical-oriented training
- Strong faculty support
- Daily evaluations and assignments
- Regular soft skill and interview training
He noted that the discipline and consistency required at CIMAGE often felt tough at the time, but later proved invaluable in the corporate world.
Why Did He Come Back to CIMAGE?
Interestingly, Abhishek was back at CIMAGE not just to visit, but to enroll his younger brother.
“CIMAGE gave me a future. When my brother wanted to stay in Patna for higher education, there was no second thought. This is the best place for BCA, BBA, and B.Com (Professional).”
He shared that last year too, he had guided another relative to take admission here.
This, according to the faculty, is proof of real trust—when successful alumni bring their own family members for admission.
Life at Wipro & Current Role
Today, Abhishek is posted at Wipro Bhubaneswar, in the Apple Account, working as a Senior Project Engineer. His domain is SAP MM (Material Management) under cloud technology.
“Wipro has delivery centers across India. I chose Bhubaneswar as it’s closer to home and familiar in culture.”
A Humble Beginning: From a Farmer's Son to Tech Leader
Abhishek hails from Jagmal Bigha, a small village near Khusrupur, Patna. Coming from a farmer’s family, he initially had plans to do a traditional B.Sc. But after some guidance, he discovered CIMAGE and the potential of professional education in IT.
“I visited CIMAGE once and left without admission. But something brought me back. And that decision changed my life.”
Final Message to Aspirants
- Abhishek’s closing advice to future students was straight from the heart:
- Be regular and disciplined from Day 1
- Use Bridge Courses to build your base
- Focus on Add-On Courses to stay updated
- Be ready to study 7–8 hours a day initially
- Don't stop learning—even after getting a job
“If you just want a degree, you can study from anywhere. But if you want a career, then CIMAGE gives you that roadmap—provided you’re willing to work hard.”
Conclusion: Success Is Not a Shortcut—It’s a Journey
Abhishek’s journey is a powerful reminder that success isn’t an accident. It’s a combination of vision, effort, discipline, and continuous learning. His story will inspire not just CIMAGE students but anyone striving to rise beyond their circumstances.
We, at CIMAGE, are proud of his achievements and wish him greater success ahead. God bless you, Abhishek!
